NRA Basic Pistol Course Overview

Every participant will also receive a comprehensive handbook that covers the key topics discussed during the course. This resource is designed to serve as a reference guide as you continue your journey in the shooting sports, reinforcing the principles learned and encouraging ongoing practice.
Practical exercises will include live-fire drills where participants will practice shooting at various distances. This hands-on approach allows for immediate application of the skills learned and provides valuable feedback from our instructors, who will be available to offer personalized tips and corrections.
We will introduce participants to the various types of handguns used in modern shooting sports. Each type of handgun has its unique handling characteristics and is designed for specific purposes, from self-defense to target shooting. Our NRA Basic Pistol course aims not only to teach the fundamentals of pistol shooting but also to instill a sense of responsibility and respect for firearms. This comprehensive training will cover critical topics such as firearm safety, understanding the mechanics of handguns, and developing shooting techniques that can be applied in various scenarios. By the end of the course, participants will have a solid foundation in safe gun handling and marksmanship.
Upon registration, participants will receive a detailed syllabus outlining the course structure, objectives, and what to expect throughout the day. This will include information on the different shooting drills we will conduct, ranging from basic marksmanship to more advanced techniques aimed at improving accuracy under various conditions.
Loaner Weapons:
There will be a $25.00 fee for loaner weapons per course. Some courses include loaner weapons at no charge. Ammo is available at an additional fee. Participants are encouraged to bring their own firearms if they have them, as this will allow for a more personalized learning experience. However, for those borrowing firearms, a variety of reliable and safe options will be provided.
We recommend reaching out a week in advance if you have a specific model in mind, so that we can ensure availability. Additionally, participants will receive guidance on the best types of firearms suited for various skill levels, enhancing their overall learning experience.

Handguns on request are available, including popular models from leading manufacturers. If you have a specific firearm in mind, please let us know ahead of time, and we will do our best to accommodate your request. Our instructors for the NRA Basic Pistol course will also be able to provide insights on different handguns, which will further enrich the learning experience.
Range and weapon rentals are available – Call for more information. We offer a variety of rental options tailored to your experience level. Our knowledgeable staff will assist with selecting the right firearm and providing safety briefings to ensure a worry-free experience. Fees are determined upon request as they depend on the time and weapons usage. Ammo fee is always separate and an adequate lead time is necessary to allow for ammo delivery. Most ammo is available, but the quantity will vary based on current supply.
Due to range time pricing, some courses may not be available for small class sizes. We aim to provide an optimal learning environment, which can often require a minimum number of participants. Prices are subject to change without notice, but once booked, the price is locked in for your selected date, ensuring no surprises later.
Payment Information:
All fees must be paid in full on the day of the class. A $75.00 deposit is required at the time of booking unless otherwise stated. Deposits can be paid by check or Venmo, Chase quick pay, or Zelle. Final payments must be in cash or check, ensuring a smooth transaction. All fees are subject to change without notice. All checks need to be sent to the address below made out to Paul Conforti. Do not send checks to the Watch Hill Avenue address. We advise checking in early on the day of the class to ensure everything is in order and to facilitate a prompt start.
