Paul J. Conforti is the lead instructor and driving force behind Aim Small Firearms Instruction. Introduced to firearms at a young age, he excelled early, participating in NRA four-position rifle qualifications and achieving Bar 9 Sharpshooter before his Explorer Post disbanded. He graduated with honors from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 1991 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice.
A lifelong hunter and outdoorsman, Paul brings real-world field experience to his instruction.
Paul began his law enforcement career in 1987 and served the City of White Plains for nearly 21 years. Certified as a firearms instructor in 1993, he held that role until retiring. Promoted to Sergeant in 1998, he was assigned to the department’s Special Response Team and later led the acquisition of new duty handguns. He also developed much of the firearms training program still used today by the White Plains Police Department.
After retiring, Paul began teaching NRA safety lectures, basic firearms courses, and New York State DCJS Armed Security Guard training. Civilian tactical courses grew from that work after students asked for ongoing training. Today, Paul remains dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of shooting and continues to train active-duty officers for the Somers Police Department and serves as a Court Security Officer in the federal courts.
